Peri-Meniscal Cysts
Usually associated with
horizontal cleavage tears
Lateral
more common than medial
meniscal tear functions as a one-way valve
synovial fluid extrudes and then concentrates to form gel-like material
Treatment
operative
arthroscopic meniscectomy and cyst decompression
Baker's Cysts
Associated with posteromedial meniscal tears
Usually located between
semimembranosus
and
medial head of gastrocnemius
Treatment:
Treat meniscal tear and cyst will usually resolve
