Peri-Meniscal Cysts
  • Usually associated with horizontal cleavage tears 
  • Lateral more common than medial
    • meniscal tear functions as a one-way valve
    • synovial fluid extrudes and then concentrates to form gel-like material
  • Treatment
    • operative
      • arthroscopic meniscectomy and cyst decompression
Baker's Cysts
  • Associated with posteromedial meniscal tears
  • Usually located between semimembranosus and medial head of gastrocnemius 
  • Treatment:
    Treat meniscal tear and cyst will usually resolve
