Causes of the fracture
•Notching of the femur

Oblique views or nothc views can identify if the prothesis is PCL retaining or scarificing (notch is covered by metal).
Tretament options
Usually by siurgery retrograde nail (short or long). The box may be closed or limited in size to allow insertion of a larger nail.
Advantages
•Minimally invasie
•Could change the liner during insertion of the nail.
Disadvatanges
•Stress riser above the nail.
Locking plate
Reduce the fracture and insert a locking plate. Best technique is done through minimally invasive appraoch utizlizaing two small incisions one above and one below thefracture.
Advantages
•Less invasice
•High rate of malunion
