Biography

Dr. Paul Shultz completed his undergraduate education at the University of Colorado, graduating with distinction and as a member of the Presidents Leadership Class. After working for two years as an international health development coordinator in Ecuador and Guatemala, he then completed his medical education at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Chicago. Following orthopaedic surgery residency, Dr. Shultz completed an additional year of fellowship training in orthopedic spine surgery at the world-renowned Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He received advanced training in the most contemporary open and minimally invasive surgical techniques for various neck and back conditions, including spinal trauma, age-related spinal degeneration, spinal deformity, and pediatric scoliosis. Dr. Shultz has a keen interest minimally invasive, motion-preserving spine surgery, which allows for smaller and more aesthetic incisions, less surgical pain, and a quicker recovery. Dr. Shultz treats every patient as his own family member. He understands the vulnerability and hope with which patients come to the doctor, seeking to improve their quality of life. He thoroughly educates each patient on their unique spinal condition and personalizes a treatment plan with each patient’s input and shared decision-making. He pledges to guide every patient through the most appropriate, evidence-based, and efficient spine care. As a native of Colorado, Dr. Shultz welcomes the immense outdoor opportunities and beauty of Central Oregon. He enjoys skiing, hiking, camping and fishing with his spouse, family and friends.
