Dr. Valérie Lemieux was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia into a French-Canadian military family and had the privilege of growing up in multiple provinces as well as abroad. She received the Faculty of Science President’s Scholarship from the University of Ottawa where she completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She subsequently attended the University of Toronto to pursue her medical studies and Orthopaedic Surgery residency. She qualified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 2022. She obtained her Master of Science from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation in System Leadership and Innovation. Her fellowship training includes both sports medicine through University of Toronto Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (UTOSM) with a focus on arthroscopic management of knee and shoulder pathologies and lower extremity reconstruction also at the University of Toronto. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several national and international meetings.
