Biography

Dr. Valérie Lemieux was born in Middleton, Nova Scotia into a French-Canadian military family and had the privilege of growing up in multiple provinces as well as abroad. She received the Faculty of Science President’s Scholarship from the University of Ottawa where she completed her Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She subsequently attended the University of Toronto to pursue her medical studies and Orthopaedic Surgery residency. She qualified as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 2022. She obtained her Master of Science from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation in System Leadership and Innovation. Her research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at several national and international meetings. Outside of the operating room, she enjoys exploring the great outdoors with her family. Her infant daughter has already hiked, cycled, camped, and she is looking forward to her first paddling trip. She is excited to continue her training through the University of Toronto’s Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship program to further develop her skills in complex shoulder and knee arthroscopy surgery and traumatic injury management. She hopes to provide high-quality comprehensive care to a growing community.
