Deltoid Rupture

Introduction
  • Usually a strain or partial tear
    • complete ruptures are rare
  • May be caused by iatragenic injury during open rotator cuff repair


Treatment
  • Complete rupture
    • early surgical repair to bone
  • Iatragenic injury during rotator cuff repair
    • deltoplasty with mobilization and anterior transfer of the middle third of the deltoid
