A 52-year-old male with no reported past medical history presents to the emergency department with increasing pain in his left leg. Six-weeks prior he was involved in a motor vehicle collision that resulted in an open tibia and fibula fracture that was initially treated with four-compartment fasciotomies and external fixator placement, followed by staged definitive management with an intramedullary nail.
