Distal Radius Fixation with Volar Locking Plate by a Minimally Invasive ApproachThis technique is being used by me since 2010, to treat unstable or stable distal radius fractures since they are reductible by closed maneuvers. This approach is not recommended for intra-articular fractures or those in which open reduction is necessary. The skin incision is transverse, on the proximal wrist crease, and promotes a very aesthetic result. Since big dissections are not perfomed, post operative pain is minimal, and prompt mobilization is allowed after surgery. This is a good option for those patients whom the fast recovery to daily live and professional activities are critical, even on the simple and stable fractures where the conservative treatment is still an option. And for all those simple "Pouteau-Colles" extra-articular, reductible unstable fractures, where this technique can promote a less painful and quick recovery.www.sphandcenter.comtwitter: @sphandcenter
