Biography

Dr. Wesley H. Bronson is an orthopedic spine surgeon for the Mount Sinai Health System and serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. His practice covers a wide range of spinal conditions with particular interests in minimally invasive spine surgery techniques as well as complex, revision spinal surgery. Dr. Bronson graduated with Honors from Princeton University. He then went on to complete medical school at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where he simultaneously obtained his MD and a MS in Bioethics. Following medical school, Dr. Bronson completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center and the Hospital for Joint Diseases (now the NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital), where he served as executive chief resident and was also awarded the Ralph Luskin Teaching Award by his peers. Dr. Bronson then completed a year of subspecialty training in spinal surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, gaining experience in complex spinal conditions including tumor, infection, trauma, and revision, or “failed” spinal surgery. His practice is guided by principles of patient-centered care, focusing first on non-operative modalities and recommending surgery only when necessary and always through shared-decision making. Dr. Bronson’s clinical focus comprises the full gamut of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal conditions, ranging from outpatient minimally invasive procedures to complex adult spinal deformity and scoliosis surgery. His research interests include clinical outcome studies and evidence-based spine care, with the goal of achieving optimal patient outcomes. He has published numerous peer-reviewed studies, abstracts, and textbook chapters and routinely presents his work at national meetings. He sees patients at the Mount Sinai Hospital as well as in White Plains, NY.
