Biography

Dr. Brian Chalmers is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee musculoskeletal care, including primary hip and knee replacement, partial knee replacement, complex and revision hip and knee replacement, and periprosthetic fractures and infections. Dr. Chalmers is trained in manual, computer-navigated, and robotic surgical techniques to achieve individualized patient treatment goals. He uses the latest surgical methods, medical research, and perioperative rapid-recovery and pain management protocols to provide the best possible care and outcomes for his patients. Dr. Chalmers earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame, where he graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Science-Business and a minor in Greek and Roman studies. He also received the Senior Award from the College of Science for balanced outstanding academic achievement, leadership, service, and integrity. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where he was elected as President of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Chalmers completed his orthopedic surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and was appointed an Administrative Chief Resident in his final year. Desiring to specialize in advanced reconstructive surgical care of hip and knee conditions, he completed an additional year of training as a clinical fellow at the Adult Reconstruction and Joint Replacement at HSS where he was granted the Clinical Excellence Award. Dr. Chalmers is dedicated to advancing the field of hip and knee replacement by improving surgical techniques and optimizing perioperative patient care. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has presented his research in over a dozen international, national, and regional meetings. He also serves as a manuscript reviewer for several orthopedic journals.
