Biography

As a former intercollegiate and avid recreational athlete, Dr. Taylor has developed a unique understanding of the demands and anxieties faced by injured athletes at all levels. His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive and reconstructive techniques of the shoulder and knee. Dr. Taylor attended Harvard University where he studied biology and played four years of varsity football. In medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeon, he was selected to the Arnold P. Gold Humanism in Medicine Honors Society. During his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery, the faculty awarded Dr. Taylor the Weill Cornell Alumni Council Distinguished Housestaff Award for exemplary all-around service and his peers selected him recipient of the Jean C. McDaniel Award for leadership, professionalism, and ethics in patient care. Dr. Taylor served as the administrative Co-Chief Fellow during his final year of training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery. Following fellowship, Dr. Taylor received additional training in complex shoulder, knee, and elbow conditions during a Traveling Fellowship that included nationally and internationally renowned experts, Dr. James Andrews (Pensacola, FL), Dr. Dan Cooper (Dallas, TX), Dr. John Conway (Fort Worth, TX), Dr. Felix Savoie (New Orleans, LA), and Dr. Laurent LaFosse (Annecy, France). Dr. Taylor currently serves as Associate Team Physician for the New York Football Giants and team physician for the Fire Department of New York (FDNY) semi-professional football team, and previously was an assistant team physician for the New York Red Bulls MLS franchise. He has also published extensively in his field, authoring more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and 15 book chapters. His seminal work on the long head of the biceps tendon was recognized with the J. Whit Ewing Award at the 2014 Annual Meeting of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. As a student, athlete, and researcher, Dr. Taylor has come to admire the wondrous capabilities and frightening limits of the human body. He has dedicated himself to restoring mobility by combining the latest minimally invasive surgical treatments with compassionate care.
