Dr. Phillip Sussman is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Florida, earning a bachelor's degree in Biology. He then obtained his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, FL. Following medical school, Dr. Sussman completed his orthopedic surgery residency at HCA Florida Largo Hospital. During his residency, he developed a keen interest in sports medicine, providing coverage for several high schools. After residency, he pursued a sports medicine fellowship at Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he served as a team physician for the University of Central Florida's football and basketball teams, the Orlando City SC professional soccer team, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and the 2022 Special Olympics equestrian events. Dr. Sussman specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder and knee, shoulder replacement procedures, and orthopedic trauma and fracture care. He has a particular focus on the prevention and treatment of orthopedic conditions affecting patients of all ages, with a special interest in ligament, tendon, and cartilage injuries of the shoulder and knee, as well as shoulder replacement surgery. Dr. Sussman has extensive experience with sports coverage, providing care to patients at all levels, from professional athletes to weekend warriors. He currently serves as a team physician for Coastal Carolina University and several local high schools. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Sussman and his wife, Heather, are passionate animal lovers and are actively involved in animal rescue efforts.
