Biography

Dr. John J. Mangan, M.D., M.H.A., is an ABOS Board Certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic spine surgeon. He serves as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Dr. Mangan completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at Rothman Orthopaedics at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he was selected as the Richard H. Rothman Distinguished Orthopaedic Resident. Following his residency, he was awarded a fellowship in combined Neurosurgical and Orthopaedic Complex Spine Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was selected as Chief Fellow. Dr. Mangan specializes in treating degenerative conditions as well as traumatic injuries of the spine, with a particular interest in cervical and lumbar spine conditions utilizing techniques tailored to each patient’s particular needs, ranging from spinal reconstruction to minimally invasive surgeries and motion-preserving procedures of the cervical spine.
