Biography

Dr. Jacob Fennessy is an orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in both minimally invasive techniques and open reconstructive surgeries for adults and children. He grew up in the East Bay Area of Northern California, and received his undergraduate education at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After this, he ventured to the East Coast for his postgraduate as well as medical school education at Georgetown University School of Medicine. It was at Georgetown that he learned and adopted the philosophy of "Cura Personalis" or care of the whole person. Dr. Fennessy takes this approach with every patient he meets. Dr. Fennessy completed his residency training in orthopedic surgery at UC Davis Medical Center, where he grew to love the community of Sacramento, which ultimately led him to return to pursue a permanent practice at Kaiser Sacramento. He completed his orthopedic spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, where he received state-of-the-art training in minimally invasive techniques, lateral approach surgery, and complex reconstructive techniques for spinal deformities, fractures, tumors, and revision surgeries. Dr. Fennessy's goal is to educate and guide his patients to make informed decisions about their health and ultimately provide them with cutting-edge surgical options tailored to the specific needs associated with their unique spinal disorders. He is passionate about the importance of interpersonal relationship and trust between a patient and their surgeon, and strives to be an advocate for his patients in order to optimize their autonomy and their surgical outcomes.
