Biography

Dr. Amiethab Aiyer is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine. He focuses on the treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. During his time at the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Aiyer has won multiple teaching/mentorship awards and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) in 2017. Most recently, he was named a top 10 faculty educator across the medical school and was named UM Faculty Council Educator of the Year 2019. Although Dr. Aiyer has special interests in clinical practice and multiple facets of orthopaedic foot & ankle research, he is passionate about teaching and mentoring both residents and medical students alike. He has worked extensively with medical students over the last several years, developing a robust orthopaedic surgery mentorship program at the University of Miami/Miller School of Medicine. He has joined forces with fellow surgeons Dr. Jonathan Kaplan and Dr. Matt Varacallo, to develop a nationwide push for medical student mentorship. Using social media platforms, the three have come together to develop Orthomentor. As one of the co-founders of Orthomentor, Dr. Aiyer hopes to provide students from across the country easy access to mentorship & advising.
