Dr. Brett D. Owens is a fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in arthroscopic repair of sports-related injuries and complex knee and shoulder reconstructions. He serves as Chief of Sports Medicine at The Miriam Hospital, Director of the Rhode Island Cartilage Repair Center, and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Brown University Alpert Medical School. Dr. Owens is also a Team Physician for Brown University and the Providence Bruins (AHL). Prior to joining University Orthopedics, he served as Chief of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Keller Army Hospital at West Point, NY, and as Chief of Orthopedics at the 86th Combat Support Hospital during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He has published over 200 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and co-edited three textbooks on orthopedic injuries.
