Dr. Stender completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He earned his Master of Science in applied physiology from the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and his Medical Degree from the Chicago Medical School where he was part of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then went on to complete his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, and also completed a fellowship in sports medicine at the Detroit Medical Center. As part of his fellowship, Dr. Stender served as the assistant team physician for the Detroit Red Wings, Pistons, and Tigers, as well as the 2014 Detroit Marathon. He was also the team physician for the Michigan Bucks, a semi-professional soccer team, and the Michigan Collegiate High School football team. Before joining OrthoUnited – Spectrum Campus, Dr. Stender was previously an orthopaedic surgeon at DuPage Medical Group in Chicago, where he specialized in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery. His additional interests include sports medicine, knee ligament reconstruction, and meniscal and cartilage work, as well as rotator cuff pathology and shoulder instability. Dr. Stender strives to deliver high-quality medical care by working closely with his patients and their families to formulate optimal treatment plans.
