Biography

Dr. Rafael J. Sierra is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult hip and knee reconstruction, reimplantation, and infection. He serves as the chair of the Division of Hip and Knee Surgery at Mayo Clinic and is a professor of orthopedic surgery at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. Dr. Sierra has received multiple awards, including the John Charnley Research Award for Outstanding Research in Hip Surgery. His research interests include femoroacetabular impingement, osteonecrosis of the femoral head, young hip disorders, and prospective randomized trials in hip disorders.
