Dr. Carlos J. Lavernia is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery. He holds academic appointments as a Voluntary Professor in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and as a Courtesy Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at Florida International University. Dr. Lavernia has developed hip and knee implants, authored numerous publications, and contributed to advancements in orthopedic surgery, including the development of the MAKOplasty® robotic system for joint replacements.
