Biography

My hometown of Bethesda, Maryland, is rich in health and scientific resources. As a result, I spent much of my time growing up volunteering at local hospitals and scientific laboratories, including those at the National Institutes of Health. These experiences fostered a deep interest in science and healthcare that made medicine the natural choice for me. After volunteering in an orthopedic surgery ward and subsequently completing a research fellowship in joint replacement surgery, I felt immediately drawn to this specialty because it combines my passion for medicine with my love of athletics and helping people to enjoy a better quality of life. At NYU Langone Madison Avenue Orthopedics and the Joan H. and Preston Robert Tisch Center at Essex Crossing, I treat people who have a variety of hip and knee conditions. My highest priority is for my patients to feel comfortable putting their utmost trust in me to tailor a treatment plan based on their needs, beginning with the most conservative approach and working from there as needed. I strive to ensure my patients understand exactly what is going on with their bodies so they are actively part of their treatment journey. At NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, I perform partial hip and knee replacement surgery, total hip and knee replacement surgery, and revision total hip and knee surgery. I also perform knee preservation surgery, including cartilage restoration and transplant surgery; urgent surgical procedures for hip and knee fractures; and osteotomies, which is when a bone is cut to shorten or lengthen it or to change its alignment. I am interested in computer-navigated surgery, robotic surgery, minimally invasive techniques, and rapid-recovery protocols. I have received numerous awards, including the Hip Society’s Frank Stinchfield Award and the Knee Society’s Chitranjan S. Ranawat, MD, Award—two of the field’s highest international honors for research in hip and knee surgery. I have also received the Ralph and Phyllis Lusskin Resident Teaching Award from NYU Langone’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery in recognition of my ability to teach and communicate with peers and patients effectively. I belong to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
