Biography

Dayton Opel is a fellowship-trained Hand and Upper Extremity orthopaedic surgeon. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Medical Microbiology & Immunology, and Zoology, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Opel completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, OR, and his fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. Dr. Opel's practice focuses on hand surgery, elbow surgery, and shoulder surgery. His medical interests include shoulder, elbow, wrist, and finger joint replacement; microsurgical nerve repair and reconstruction; arthroscopy of the shoulder, elbow, and wrist; carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel syndrome; sports injuries of the upper limb; rotator cuff tears and labral tears; arthritis of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder; trauma, lacerations, fractures, and dislocations; muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries; pediatric and adolescent hand and arm conditions; ganglion cysts and other hand/wrist masses; Dupuytren’s contracture; trigger finger and tendonitis. Dr. Opel is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Orthopaedic Association. In his free time, Dr. Opel enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and golden retriever. They share a strong commitment to their personal and extended families and are passionate about playing an active role in the improvement of their community. They also enjoy skiing, hiking, camping, tennis, and golf and are avid Badgers and Packers fans.
