Biography

Dr. Louis Rizio is a fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist and orthopedic surgeon with over 31 years of experience. He specializes in sports-related injuries of the shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle, and performs the latest cartilage repair and regeneration techniques. Dr. Rizio has served as the Head Team Physician for the New Jersey Institute of Technology Division 1 NCAA athletic program for over 15 years and has worked with numerous high schools in the area. He has also been involved with professional teams such as the New Jersey Pride Professional Lacrosse, Miami Dolphins, Florida Marlins, and the University of Miami Hurricanes. His research interests include cartilage regeneration/repair with adult stem cells, shoulder-related disorders, injuries in throwing athletes, Tommy John surgery, ACL tears, and elbow disorders in athletes. Dr. Rizio utilizes PRP and other biologic treatments to enhance healing and recovery. He has published articles, abstracts, and book chapters in prestigious, peer-reviewed scientific journals and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and New Jersey Orthopaedic Society.
