Dr. Peter Mandell was born and raised on the San Francisco Peninsula. He graduated cum laude with an AB from Yale College and received his MD from the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Mandell has practiced orthopaedic surgery in Burlingame, CA, for his entire career. He served as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at UCSF for 37 years and was Director of Anatomy Teaching at the San Francisco Orthopaedic Residency Program for over 20 years. Dr. Mandell has held leadership roles in various medical associations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the California Orthopaedic Association.
