Dr. John M. Tokish is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine at Mayo Clinic Arizona. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1995, completed his residency at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center, and a fellowship in sports medicine and arthroscopy at the Steadman Hawkins Sports Medicine Foundation in Vail, Colorado. Dr. Tokish has served as head team physician and chief of sports medicine at the U.S. Air Force Academy, residency program director at Tripler Army Medical Center, and director of the Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas. He joined Mayo Clinic in 2017, where he is a professor of orthopedics and serves as the team orthopedic consultant for the Arizona Coyotes of the NHL. Dr. Tokish has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and more than 40 book chapters, and has given over 350 national and international presentations in the field of sports medicine and shoulder reconstruction.
