Having trained extensively in England, Canada, and New York as a pelvic/lower limb trauma and arthroplasty surgeon, Dr. Pereira now concentrates his efforts on the reconstruction of the hip and knee joints. His surgical repertoire includes primary and revision operations of the hip and knee and certain osteotomies. He offers the full range of hip replacements including resurfacings, mini-hips, cemented and uncemented, and various bearing options. Knee surgeries include unicompartmental knee replacements and patellofemoral replacements. Dr. Pereira has extensive experience in using computer navigation for both hip and knee replacements. He has an avid interest in treating patients with infections following joint replacements. Dr. Pereira's research focuses on patient outcomes of hip and knee replacements and biomechanics of implants. He has a special interest in computer-aided surgery from digital templating to computer navigation. He is also keen on methods to reduce post-op infections, early and robust diagnosis of infections, and effective methods to eradicate them.
