Biography

Dr. Brian Handal was born in Chicago, IL, and raised in Houston, TX. Dr. Handal graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with a degree in Molecular Genetics. Through his interest in cancer research, he is well-published in the field of next-generation sequencing where his work in database management, software engineering, and informatics helped aid in the creation of a multifaceted software program known as OncoSeek. Dr. Handal graduated medical school from Des Moines University and Orthopaedic residency in Dayton, OH at Grandview Medical Center in the Kettering Health Network. He is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon who attended his fellowship at Florida Orthopaedic Institute in Tampa, FL. Dr. Handal's current research/specialty interests are in adult joint and spine reconstructive surgery. He holds no consulting agreements with medical device companies or pharmaceutical companies and does not receive any royalties for medical devices or drugs used in the treatment of patients.
