Dr. Geoffrey Van Thiel specializes in minimally invasive and arthroscopic surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He has extensive training from international experts and has published significant literature on hip arthroscopy, cartilage restoration techniques, complex knee ligament surgery, and various arthroscopic shoulder procedures. Dr. Van Thiel attended UCLA Medical School and concurrently completed an MBA from the UCLA School of Business. He completed his orthopedic and sports medicine training at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, where he remains a faculty member for research and resident education. He has collaborated with world-renowned surgeons on research and development projects in multiple areas, including hip arthroscopy and new techniques to treat labral tears, cartilage restoration, and joint-preserving surgical techniques of the knee, hip, and shoulder. Dr. Van Thiel is also involved in educating other surgeons and is a member of the Multicenter Arthroscopic Study of the Hip. His commitment to athletics is evident in his involvement with sports teams; he was an assistant team physician for the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox and is currently affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks Medical Network and is the head team physician for the AHL Ice Hogs. He is also a team physician with the US National Soccer Teams.
