Biography

Dr. Morse is a spine surgeon at HSS, specializing in comprehensive spine care for his patients. He believes in utilizing minimally invasive techniques to help patients achieve their goals. Dr. Morse graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering, magma cum laude, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York and was elected to the Pi Tau Sigma Honor Society. Following service as an Infantry Officer in the United States Army, he completed his post-baccalaureate pre-medical studies at Columbia University. Subsequently, he attended Weill Cornell Medical College to complete his medical degree. He then began the Hospital for Special Surgery Orthopedic Surgery Residency and as a resident pursed an additional year of research. He completed his spine fellowship at Stanford University as a Clinical Instructor. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Morse is highly active as a surgeon-scientist. He has received regional and national recognition for his research efforts. He is focused on better understanding the underlying cellular biological mechanisms that lead to spine pathology as well as the physiologic response to injury. He also remains active in clinical research to ultimately improve patient outcomes. He is active in the recruitment and design of randomized controlled trials.
