Biography

Dr. Brian R. Hallstrom is a Clinical Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Michigan. He co-founded and serves as Co-Director of the Michigan Arthroplasty Registry Collaborative Quality Initiative (MARCQI), a statewide collaborative with over 92 participating sites and more than 525,000 abstracted hip and knee arthroplasty cases. Dr. Hallstrom recently completed a 5-year term as Associate Chief of Staff for Michigan Medicine. He is President-Elect of the International Society of Arthroplasty Registries (ISAR) and serves on the American Joint Replacement Registry (AJRR) Steering Committee and the AJRR-C External Advisory Board. His research interests include joint replacement of the hip and knee, treatment of arthritis and avascular necrosis, joint implant quality registries, and medical quality improvement. Dr. Hallstrom is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member in multiple societies including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
