Biography

Dr. Mark Gendi is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction, including hip and knee replacement. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology from Houston Christian University, where he also played Division I college soccer. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Kansas City University and completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at Research Medical Center/Kansas City University in Kansas City, Missouri, serving as Chief Resident from 2023-2024. Dr. Gendi further refined his expertise through an Orthopedic Adult Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He holds medical licenses in Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Dr. Gendi is passionate about total joint replacements for shoulders, hips, and knees. His goal is to collaborate with each patient to develop a personalized assessment and plan that effectively relieves their pain and helps them return to their desired functional level and activities. He emphasizes the use of robotic-assisted joint replacement, believing it allows for precise alignment of the operative joint, matching a patient's native anatomy and aiding in postoperative recovery and function. Dr. Gendi performs muscle-sparing direct anterior total hip replacements and quadriceps muscle-sparing subvastus knee replacements that do not violate the quadriceps muscle. Dr. Gendi's philosophy regarding patient care is to treat the patient as a whole, fostering a collaborative effort to meet their needs and aspirations. He actively contributes to the medical community as a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Gendi enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, exploring various foods, and his lifelong passion for soccer, having played professionally for FCA Darmstadt in Germany. He is also a fan of Chelsea FC and Houston sports teams.
