Biography

Dr. Michael Daubs, professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV, treats disorders of the neck and back including fractures, herniated discs, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis and other complex spinal curvatures. He specializes in surgery of the spine in both children and adults. Dr. Daubs is the first holder of the Optum Dr. Tony and Renee Marlon Endowed Chair in the Department of Orthopaedics. “I find great satisfaction in connecting with my patients and determining the best treatment for them,” he said. “Every patient is unique and treatment should be individualized.” Board certified, he is a member of many national and international research and education organizations, and enjoys the privilege of instructing his fellow spine surgeons at medical conferences around the world. Dr. Daubs has gained recognition for the publication of over 100 scientific journal articles and medical textbook chapters related to the treatment of the spine. A graduate of the University of Nevada School of Medicine, he did his residency training at the University of Arizona and completed a fellowship at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Daubs previously held faculty positions in the Washington University Department of Orthopaedics in St. Louis as well as at the University of Utah and UCLA. He returned to Las Vegas in 2013 and founded the first MD orthopaedic residency training program in Nevada and considers this as one of the high points of his career. “Training the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons is a mission our team takes very seriously,” Dr. Daubs said. “ Innovation through research and education is the key to delivering state-of-the-art, high-quality treatment for all of our patients.”
