Biography

Dr. Michael C. Willey is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in treating hip conditions in adolescents and young adults, including dysplasia, impingement, slipped capital femoral epiphysis, Perthes disease, fractures, deformities, and arthritis. He also treats traumatic injuries of the pelvis and extremities. Dr. Willey co-founded the University of Iowa Young Adult Hip Clinic, the only comprehensive hip preservation clinic in Iowa. His research focuses on interventions to improve function and pain for adolescents and young adults with hip dysplasia, including prospective studies on non-surgical and surgical treatments, as well as nutrition interventions to preserve muscle and improve physical function after surgical treatment.
