Orthopaedic Trauma Hand & Wrist Shoulder & Elbow Carpal Tunnel Trigger Fingers Arthritis Fractures

Biography

Dr. Alistair Phillips is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specializing in hand, wrist, and elbow surgery. He works at the Spire Southampton, the Wessex Nuffield and University Hospital Southampton which is a Major Trauma Centre. His practice involves general trauma care or acutely injured patients and his sub-specialist interest is trauma and longer-term problems in the hand, wrist and elbow. Dr. Phillips is fellowship trained in all aspects of hand, wrist, and elbow surgery, having spent time in Derby which is one of the largest and most prestigious Hand Units in the world, and also in Southampton. His passion is for using local anesthetics (LA) in an almost painless way for many smaller procedures such as carpal tunnel decompression, trigger finger release, simple Dupuytren's contractures, and cysts within the fingers. He also uses local anesthetics for all tendon injuries and transfers. Dr. Phillips is also a co-author of the definitive book on the subject and he built and runs a charitable website educating hand surgeons about the benefits of Wide Awake Hand Surgery globally.
