Biography

Dr. Andrew C. Hecht is the Chief of Spine Surgery for the Mount Sinai Health System and Chief of Spine Surgery at The Mount Sinai Hospital. He also serves as Director of the Spine Center of Mount Sinai Doctors and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Neurologic Surgery at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Hecht is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Harvard Medical School, as well as a trauma fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital. He completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Emory University Spine Center. Dr. Hecht holds dual appointments in orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery. He is the spine surgical consultant to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, and New York Dragons professional teams, as well as numerous collegiate teams at Hofstra University and Molloy College. Dr. Hecht is the Director of the NFL Spine Care Program for retired players at Mount Sinai and directs the acute spinal injury program for the NY Jets. He is one of two orthopaedic surgeons on the NFL Brain and Spine Committee. Dr. Hecht has been recognized in New York Magazine's 'Top Doctors', Castle Connolly's 'Top Doctors for the New York Metro Area' for Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, and the New York Times 'Super Doctors'.
