Methandrostenolone (Dianabol) is an anabolic steroid. A majority of users of anabolic steroids experience side-effects including acne (40-54%), testicular atrophy (40-51%), gynecomastia (10-34%), cutaneous stria (34%), and injection site pain (36%). Hypertension, altered lipoprotein profile, and decreased sperm count are also common. Decreased vision is not a known side effect of anabolic steroids.

This steroid was first commercially manufactured in 1960 and quickly became the most used and abused steroid worldwide, remaining so to date.
