A 42-year-old man who smokes 2 packs of cigarettes a week was involved in a MVC 5 days ago. The patient did not seek immediate medical attention despite neck pain and instead self-treated with a soft cervical collar which he had from a prior injury at home. He now reports persistent neck pain with motion. On physical exam, he has normal motor strength in his upper and lower extremities, 2+ patellar reflexes bilaterally, and a down-going Babinbski sign. AP, flexion, and extension radiographs are shown in Figures A-C, and sagittal and coronal CT scans are shown in Figures D-E. What is the most appropriate management at this time?
