Laboratory studies show a uric acid level of 4.0 mg/dL (normal 2.5-7.0 mg/dL), white blood cell count of 9,700/mm3 (normal 3,500-10,500/mm3), erythrocyte sedimentation rate of 65 mm/h (normal up to 20 mm/h), and a glucose level of 166 mg.
