Incarcerated fragments and nonconcentric reductions are best treated with urgent open reduction, retrieval of the fragments, and internal fixation. Delayed treatment increases the damage to the articular surface, even if traction is applied. There is no role for nonsurgical management with entrapped fragments and nonconcentric reduction of the hip.
