A 58-year-old woman undergoes a total knee arthroplasty with a posterior stabilized design. Two years later, she returns with recurrent sterile joint effusions, a sensation of instability without giving way and difficulty with ascending and descending stairs. Examination reveals diffuse tenderness around the pes anserinus and peripatellar region, and increased anterior tibial translation most notable at 90° of flexion.
