A 61-year-old active male presents for evaluation of progressive hand weakness over the past month without antecedent trauma. They note symptoms have begun to limit them during exercise, noting difficulty with grasping handles of exercise machines. Sensory exam demonstrates two-point discrimination of 4-5 mm along the volar aspect of the distal digits. Motor exam reveals normal thumb extension, weakness with thumb interphalangeal joint flexion, and normal index finger metacarpophalangeal joint abduction strength. MRI of the upper extremity is obtained without any notable abnormalities. You diagnose them with a compressive neuropathy of a peripheral nerve.
