A 23-year-old female soccer player presents to the orthopedic clinic with a history of multiple patellar dislocations. She has trialed physical therapy and patellar bracing; however, she recently experienced a third dislocation in a single calendar year. Plain films reveal mild genu valgum, and a Caton-Deschamps ratio of 1.2. A CT scan shows a tibial tubercle to trochlear groove (TT-TG) of 14.5 mm with mild trochlear dysplasia. The patient would like to return to playing soccer as soon as possible postoperatively. What is the most appropriate management for this patient?
