A 35-year-old nurse presents to the orthopedic clinic endorsing right elbow pain and weakness for the past 5 months. She initially suffered a fall while biking which resulted in a simple elbow dislocation that was reduced at an emergency room. Her persistent lateral elbow pain was diagnosed as tennis elbow and she completed therapy, which did not improve her symptoms. She reports her elbow feels unstable and limits her function at work. On exam, she has pain with wrist extension and a positive chair rise test. Plain films show no osseous abnormality. Which additional maneuver will assist in understanding the degree of her instability?
