You see a 76-year-old female with Alzheizmers disease in the office as an ER follow-up after she sustained her 3rd posterior hip dislocation by bending over to tie her shoe. Her initial total hip arthroplasty (THA) was done by an outside surgeon in a different state. On radiographic evaluation of her components, you note that her cup is positioned in 42° of abduction and 5° of anteversion. Both components appear well fixed without evidence of loosening. There are no signs of infection. You discuss revision THA with the patient and her family in order to improve stability.
