A 13-year-old male presents to your office with a painful, palpable prominence over the anterior leg that has been present for over a year. He has tried rest and has completed a 6 week course of physical therapy, without much benefit. NSAIDs do help alleviate the pain but his pediatrician fears gastrointestinal side effects with prolonged use. The pain is currently limiting his participation in sporting activities.
