An 11-year-old, right hand dominant boy complains of right elbow pain after pitching his 6th game of the week. His father is convinced that he "has the stuff" and that it is "only a matter of time" before his son pitches professionally. The community hand surgeon sees the patient for his first visit to a physician for this issue. On exam of the right upper extremity, he lacks terminal elbow extension, has a mild effusion, but has no crepitus through an arc of motion. Between the history, physical exam, and radiograph (Figure A) a diagnosis is made. What is the best treatment at this point for the young hurler?
