A 32-year-old male is brought to the trauma bay by EMS after a motorcycle accident with multiple long bone fractures, soft tissue abrasions, and lacerations. A cervical collar which was placed by EMS in the field and is well-positioned. On initial examination, he is saturating well on room air with a blood pressure at 145/87 mm Hg. He is currently GCS 9 and unable to participate in a complete neurologic examination. There are no step-offs on palpation of the cervical spinous processes.
