A 36-year-old male construction worker has had four years of progressively worsening left knee pain. The patient underwent a meniscal debridement when he was 23 years old. Examination in the clinic demonstrates mild varus malalignment, medial joint line tenderness, and positive McMurray and Thessaly tests. The ligamentous exam is otherwise normal. Xrays are shown in figures A and B. You believe he would benefit from a valgus-producing high tibial osteotomy.
