QID 211432 (Type "211432" in App Search)
A 21-year-old collegiate linebacker with Type I diabetes managed with a continous glucose monitor and insulin presents with left shoulder pain and numbness. He reports the symptoms began two weeks ago following a tackle. On physical exam, he has decreased sensation to light touch over the lateral shoulder, trace weakness to shoulder abduction and elbow flexion with his palms pointing to the ceiling. He otherwise has a negative Hoffman sign bilaterally, normal reflexes in his upper and lower extremities, and is able to walk toe-to-heel without difficulty. An MRI is shown in Figure A and B. Considering the patient wants to return to play as soon as possible, what would be the most appropriate next step in management?
