Isokinetic contractions usually describe dynamic exercises performed through ranges of motion of a joint at a constant velocity. Isometric or static muscle contractions refer to muscle contraction where the external muscle length does not change. Isotonic muscle contraction refers to constant internal forces being applied with associated muscle shortening. Isotonic muscle exercises are also defined as dynamic exercises with a constant load or resistence.
