A 28-year-old right-hand-dominant man fell off his bicycle and fractured the base of his right thumb metacarpal. Radiographs identified an intra-articular fracture of the base of the thumb metacarpal associated with dislocation of the trapeziometacarpal joint. The dislocation was reduced in the emergency department and the thumb was immobilized with a splint.
