An active, 54-year-old woman fell from a standing height onto an outstretched right hand and experienced immediate pain and deformity at the wrist. Radiographs reveal an extra-articular, 30° dorsally angulated distal radius fracture with dorsal comminution. The patient has a residual 15° dorsal angulation and 3-mm ulnar positive variance after reduction and splinting in the emergency department. There is a concomitant ulnar styloid base fracture with 2-mm displacement.
